However, historically, it has been a notable suggestion that Akure was established in AD 1440 which is many centuries from now. It is unlikely to speak of an established Yoruba Kingdom without touching the city of Ife, or the involvement of Oduduwa as a person, and this goes hand in glove with other Yoruba Kingdoms.<\/p>\r\n<p id=\"6247\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph mf mg fr mh b mi mj mk ml mm mn mo mp mq mr ms mt mu mv mw mx my mz na nb nc fk bj\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><strong class=\"mh fs\">Let\u2019s get down on a few stories, shall we?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p id=\"298a\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph mf mg fr mh b mi mj mk ml mm mn mo mp mq mr ms mt mu mv mw mx my mz na nb nc fk bj\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Like many other Yoruba history, it is quite hard to pinpoint which story is true and which isn\u2019t. To me, I think we\u2019re all about which story hits hard. It is also believed that Akure was founded by a prince named Omoremilekun, the son of Ekun and grandson to Oduduwa, the royal progenitor of the Yoruba Kingdom. A few others pride in the name \u201cAkure Oloyemekun\u201d, which was derived from the first monarch of the Akure town called \u201cAsodeboyede\u201d who was believed to be the son of Omo Ekun Asodeboyede. A lot more stories intrigues me, one of which is how the \u201cAkure\u201d name came about.<\/p>\r\n<p id=\"3e0a\" class=\"mf mg om mh b mi mj mk ml mm mn mo mp mq mr ms mt mu mv mw mx my mz na nb nc fk bj\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">It is said that the Prince left Ile-Ife, the city of his grandfather\u2019s kingdom, in search of a place to settle. At the point where the prince and his entourage arrived at the exact location of the modern Akure city, the line holding the royal beads on his neck together is said to have snapped, thus causing the people to exclaim \u201c\u00c0k\u00fan re\u201d (meaning: the beads have snapped). This was believed to be a divinely communicated instruction to make there a dwelling place. With time, the phrase \u201cAkun re\u201dwas whittled down through its constant use to become Akure.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div  class=\"lqd-simple-heading-wrap ld_simple_heading_69d04069a52d4\">\n<h5 class=\"lqd-simple-heading\">\n\t<\/p>\r\n<p>Historical Places to Visit<\/p>\r\n<p><\/h5>\n<\/div>[vc_single_image image=&#8221;13725&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\r\n<p>Akure is a land with numerous historical stories, and these stories are attached to places, events, buildings\/structure and people. Close to this water front is a fishing terminal that allows tourist to explore various organisms in the sea.
